In 2023 I was given the amazing opportunity to write the history of my favourite video game company, SEGA. Thanks to White Owl Publishing, an imprint of Pen & Sword, that history book is coming out September this year.
However, every book has a word, page and time limit in which it must be written. As a result, some things, no matter how much you love them, have to be left out. So it was with The History of SEGA. However, that’s where SEGA Extra comes in.
The intention of this Substack is to act as something of a companion piece to the History of SEGA book. Don’t worry, you don’t need to have read the book to follow along with these histories (although I would really appreciate it if you considered grabbing a copy).
Here you’ll be able to find stories, anecdotes and history from across SEGA’s 60+ years. Whether you’ve read The History of SEGA or not, I hope you enjoy this further exploration of one of gaming’s most important companies.
While I don’t plan on putting anything behind a paywall, I do write this content in my spare time. So, if you are able to afford the £4 monthly subscription (it’s the cheapest Substack will allow me to make it) it would be hugely appreciated. Remember, you can cancel it at any time
Cheers.
